Dallas-based law firm Shackelford — formerly known as Shackelford, Melton, McKinley & Norton LLP — is moving its growing Turtle Creek headquarters to North Central Expressway.

The law firm has signed a lease for about 51,000 square feet of office space at The Pyramids at Park Lane at the northwest corner of Park Lane and North Central Expressway.

Shackelford plans to move its corporate and legal offices from its Lee Parkway office building by the end of October in 2015.

"They needed to grow and the rates in Uptown are really above market," John Amend, president and CEO of The Amend Group of Dallas, told the Dallas Business Journal. "There was not enough room for them to grow in the building they are in, and they have always been really good financial managers.

"This was a value play for them," Amend added.

Amend's sons and business partners J.W. Amend and B.D. Amend also worked on the deal on behalf of the law firm. Cincha Kostman and Sanober Syed of Hudson Peters Commercial represented the ownership of The Pyramids, Healthcare Realty Trust.

Pamela Perkins of Healthcare Realty Trust — an investment group that primarily owns health care properties — also worked on the deal.

As Uptown fills up, Amend said he expects more companies to consider other real estate options in adjacent neighborhoods.

"North Central Expressway from Cityplace to LBJ is a screaming buy right now," he said. "They looked around the corner and prepared themselves for all kinds of options in the future."

The law firm's new lease runs more than 16 years. The expansion will allow Shackelford to grow its presence throughout the United States.
